ReadyPup (“the App,” “we,” “us”) is an educational dog-care readiness and scheduling app. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, why, and your choices.

Important: ReadyPup provides educational defaults and coaching-style prompts only. It is not veterinary advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a guarantee that you are ready to own or adopt a dog.

1. Who this applies to

This policy applies to people who download and use ReadyPup on iOS or Android.

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). Do not use the App if you are under that age.

Age suitability

ReadyPup is an educational dog-care readiness coach for a general audience. It is not a social network, a Kids-category app, or an age-gated community. The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). ReadyPup does not include age-assurance or parental-control product features beyond the normal App Store age rating and the operating system’s parental controls. v1 is local-first and does not require an account. We do not sell your personal information.

3. Information we process

3.1 Information you provide

  • Dog profiles (for example name, breed, size, age/life stage, real vs virtual)
  • App mode (Prep / With my dog(s) / Adding another)
  • Care completions, notes you enter, quiet-hours or manual weather overrides
  • Soft-path / pavement-conditioning style preferences you set in the App

This information is stored on your device in the App’s local database.

3.2 Information from your device (permissions)

Location
If you grant location permission, the App reads your approximate or precise location so it can request weather for your area and support walk-related features. Location is used for that purpose; it is not used to build an advertising profile.

Motion / steps / activity
If you grant the relevant permission, the App may read step or motion data during a walk session to help verify that a walk involved real walking (and not, for example, driving). Step data is processed on device for verification and local history in v1.

Notifications
If you allow notifications, the App schedules local reminders for care tasks. Reminder content is generated on device.

Photos / camera / contacts / microphone
Not used by the App’s core v1 features described in this policy. If a future version requests them, this policy will be updated first.

3.3 Weather requests (third party)

To show heat/cold guidance, the App may send latitude and longitude (from your device, when permitted) to a weather provider.

  • Default provider: Open-Meteo (typically no API key; request includes coordinates and returns temperature, humidity, wind, etc.)
  • Optional alternate provider: If configured by the developer build, another weather API endpoint may be used. That provider would receive coordinates as needed to return weather.

Weather responses may be cached on your device for offline use. The App does not need your name or email to fetch weather.

Review the weather provider’s own privacy terms for how they process API requests.

3.4 Information we do not collect in v1 (by design)

  • Account registration / login
  • Payment card data inside the App (donate, if ever enabled later, would use an external link and that provider’s policy)
  • Advertising identifiers for cross-app ads
  • Selling or renting your personal information to data brokers

4. How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Generate educational care schedules and readiness progress on your device
  • Adjust walk guidance for weather and surface risk heuristics
  • Verify walk sessions using step-aware checks
  • Send local care reminders you opt into
  • Improve reliability (for example caching last weather reading)

We do not use your dog-care data to train third-party advertising models.

Where applicable, we process data based on:

  • Contract / service delivery — providing the App features you request
  • Consent — location, motion/steps, and notifications (you can revoke in system settings)
  • Legitimate interests — securing and operating a local-first educational app, in a manner that does not override your rights

6. Sharing

We share data only as follows:

  1. Weather provider — coordinates (when you use weather features) as described above
  2. Operating system / app stores — Apple and Google process install, crash, and standard store analytics under their policies
  3. Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect rights and safety

We do not sell personal information.

7. Retention

  • Local App data remains on your device until you delete it in-App (if provided) or uninstall the App
  • Cached weather is kept only as long as useful for offline guidance, then overwritten
  • Uninstalling ReadyPup removes the App’s local database from your device (subject to OS behavior)

Because v1 has no cloud account, we generally cannot remotely retrieve or restore your care history after uninstall.

8. Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Deny or revoke location, motion/fitness, and notification permissions in system settings (some features will degrade or stop)
  • Clear App data / uninstall to remove local records
  • Email anoop.pamu@gmail.com to ask privacy questions

Depending on your location (for example EEA, UK, California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing, or to appeal a denial. Contact us at the email above. Because most ReadyPup data stays on your device, the fastest deletion method is usually clearing App data or uninstalling.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical measures appropriate for a local-first mobile app (for example on-device storage protected by the OS app sandbox). No method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

10. International transfers

If weather API servers are outside your country, coordinates in weather requests may be processed in other regions. Where required, appropriate transfer safeguards depend on the provider. See the provider’s documentation.

11. Children’s privacy

ReadyPup is not directed to children under 13 (or higher age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact anoop.pamu@gmail.com and we will help you remove what we can (typically by guiding uninstall / data clear for an on-device app).

The App may later link to external sites (for example a donate page or educational resources). Those sites have their own privacy policies. This policy applies only to ReadyPup.

13. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the App or store listing when appropriate. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
